Zinc-Diecasting

The Lesney foundry has a long standing dedication to the manufacture of Zinc Alloy die-castings. Our range of Frech zinc die-casting machines are equipped with the latest processor controls, and these are complemented by our bespoke high pressure die-casting machines in producing parts to the highest standards. If your requirements are for high precision zinc die-castings or zinc castings of a more aesthetic quality, we have the machines to suit. Fully automated processes include cellular production, robot pick 'n' place and weight-sensing technology.

Our hot-chamber die-casting machines vary in size from 20 tonne to 200 tonne locking force, they produce parts ranging from a few grammes to over 5Kg, in either alloy ZL2, ZL3 or ZL5, utilising the very latest 'Real Time' control technology for the production of high-quality cast products that require minimal finishing. The die-casting foundry is supplied with molten zinc from our state of the art Meltec re-melting furnace, with a capacity to produce 500Kg Zn/hr, delivered to each machine with a Meltec metal transport furnace as required. - Plant List Page

Insert casting - We regularly cast around metal inserts taking away costly assembly operations and ensuring a positive bond between the insert and the casting – Conversely, if you require your zinc castings to be over-moulded with plastic, this can be accommodated in our adjoining Plastics Moulding Department where our range of machines regularly produces high quality plastic parts for all sectors of industry.

As our customers have come to appreciate, Lesney also complement the zinc die-casting service with an integrated Machine and Trim Department, where operations such as turning, milling, drilling,?tapping?etc, are carried out. We also offer our in-house assembly service for delivery of quality sub-assemblies straight to your production lines.

Castings are routinely Vibro polished prior to despatch and where specified, various plate, paint or powder coating surface finishes can be applied to enhance aesthetics or to improve mechanical properties and provide additional corrosion resistance. These are applied at our carefully selected sub-contractors in compliance with R.O.H.S, WEEE and End of Life Vehicle directives.
